Armenia does not apply the European regulation. Drones come under ministerial order N 21-Ն of 20 December 2024 (rules for training and special-purpose flights, which covers remotely piloted unmanned systems; it replaces order N 56-Ն of 2007), within the remit of the civil aviation committee (GDCA). The committee announces that a new regulation on operational safety and drone registration is being drawn up, “coming soon”.
- Flying without a permit: the order allows it up to 120 m above the terrain for drones up to 4 kg; the committee’s page allows it for drones under 250 g up to 120 m. The sources do not settle the matter.
- Age: people under 14 years old may use a drone only under the supervision of an adult.
- Other cases: an application (form N 1) to gdca@gdca.am at least 3 working days beforehand, with third-party liability insurance, manuals and a risk assessment; notification to air traffic control at least 8 h beforehand.
- Committee advice: no flying in the evening or at night; direct line of sight without binoculars; high-visibility vest.
2 · Zones: the committee’s table
The committee publishes an HTML table of prohibited and restricted zones (one prohibited zone around the nuclear power plant, four restricted zones, and the radii around aerodromes), with no interactive map or downloadable data.
- Aerodromes: flights within a radius of 5 km of the reference point are made only with a committee permit (order, point 18); the advice page states 7 km.
⚠️ Glydar’s map does not display Armenia’s regulations: the committee’s table of prohibited and restricted zones prevails, to be checked before every flight — see coverage, country by country.
3 · Registration, exam and insurance
- Registration, training, the exam and the remote pilot’s minimum age are not stated in the sources consulted: they are announced as “forthcoming”.
- Insurance: third-party insurance is requested in the authorisation file, and the committee recommends making sure of being insured.
4 · FPV and night flying
FPV: the order provides for clear visual conditions; no FPV rule is stated.
At night: the committee’s page states not to operate a drone in the evening or at night.
5 · Before every flight
- Aerodromes: committee permit within 5 km.
- Height: 120 m. Weight: 250 g (page) or 4 kg (order).
- Nuclear power plant and restricted zones: consult the committee’s table.
This guide simplifies — it replaces neither the official texts nor an up-to-date check. In case of doubt: the civil aviation committee (GDCA).
6 · Penalties: what the law says
The Code of Administrative Offences (art. 121, “violation of flight rules”) provides for a fine of one hundred times the minimum salary, in general terms:
- No drone-specific article is stated in the sources consulted, and the value of the minimum salary is not verified: no amount in drams is therefore written.
The text of the law prevails, not this page.
7 · Your responsibility, and what Glydar does
Glydar informs; it exempts from nothing. This guide draws on official sources but is not an official source, does not guarantee that they are exhaustive or up to date, and does not amount to authorisation to fly.
The remote pilot remains solely responsible for their flight and its compliance, as the terms of use recall. Everything needed to check is within reach: coverage, country by country, the official map and the texts cited below.
