General
Is Glydar free?
Yes. Viewing the map and the public spots is free. A free account unlocks contributing and the community. The project lives on pilots’ support, not on advertising.
Is it only for FPV?
No. Glydar is FPV-first — freestyle, cinematic, long range — but the map, the regulations and the weather serve a DJI, a wing or a tinywhoop just as well.
Where do the spots come from?
From pilots. Every spot is created, confirmed and enriched by the community. The public pages only show a chosen sample — the rest lives in the app.
Regulations
Does Glydar replace the official regulations?
No, and it never will claim to. Glydar shows the information published by the civil aviation authority of each country covered and cross-checks it with what pilots have experienced — but the rule that prevails is the one from your country’s authority. An up-to-date check of the official maps and NOTAMs is still essential before every flight. The countries and sources are detailed on the coverage page.
Which countries are covered?
Today: France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, each with the data of its civil aviation authority (in Luxembourg, these are temporary zones for now). Other countries will follow as reusable public sources exist. The coverage page details, country by country, what is displayed and where it comes from.
What does “No known restriction” mean?
Exactly what it says: no permanent restriction known to us at that point. The word “known” carries the caveat — temporary restrictions may not all appear there.
Is Glydar used to hide illegal flights?
No — quite the opposite. The regulations are always visible, never hideable, and a spot in a prohibited zone shows it in red. Flying informed is the whole project.
Account & data
Is my data sold?
No. No resale, no advertising, hosting in Europe. The detail is in the privacy policy.
Can I delete my account and get my data back?
Yes, both, from the app’s settings: account deletion and a GDPR export of your contributions.
Is my position visible?
Never. Only your public contributions (spots, confirmations, reviews) appear — not your favourites, not your private sessions, not your position.
